by Donating Plasma

Just going to be upfront this is probably not for everyone, but it is an easy way to make some easy instant cash a month while giving back and saving lives! Now, that’s pretty cool! ✨ALSO, DID YOU KNOW?

Plasma cannot be produced synthetically. It can only be obtained from healthy adults.

I’m sure you’re curious as to how this process works and what it entails. Well, let me tell you it is a pretty simple process!

As a single mom, it is really nice to have some extra cash to help with groceries, to pay bills, or to have some extra spending money.

1. First, you will want to find a local donor center. Here is a list from The Plasma Protein Therapeutics Association (PPTA) listing all licensed plasma collection centers in the U.S. The site can be found at pptaglobal.org

✨I go to a local BioLife Plasma Center

2. Visit your local Plasma Center’s website and go to Become a Donor. That is where you will find a STEP BY STEP GUIDE on how to REGISTER and what the PROCESS LOOKS LIKE, as well as, eligibility and requirements.

3. Your first visit they will do a medical history interview, physical examination, and a blood test.

They care about the health and safety of their donors, so they have everyone take a health screening test before just anyone can donate plasma.

Make sure to check your donation center's health and safety guide before going in to donate.

DONATION REQUIREMENTS:

Age: You must be 18 years or older

Weight: You must be at least 110 lbs

Good Health: You must be in good health and feel well the day you plan to donate.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO BRING AS A FIRST TIME DONOR:

Proof of Identification: You must provide identification that includes the following information: a photo, a signature, date of birth, and social security card. *(I brought in my driver's license and SS Card).

Proof of Address: You must bring in a CURRENT piece of mail, bill, or state-issued form of your physical address. *(I used my current power bill statement that had my address on it). TIPS BEFORE YOU DONATE:

NUTRITION

  • Make sure to eat a healthy protein-based meal at least 3 hours before your donation

  • Avoid fatty foods the day of your donation

  • Drink lots of water and avoid drinking any alcohol or smoking before your donation

  • Increase your iron by eating foods high in iron or taking iron supplements will help bring your hematocrit level to the acceptable range for plasma donation

  • Get plenty of rest before and after your donation

  • Make sure to rehydrate and drink plenty of water after your donation

*(For more information check your center's website for a nutrition guide before donating).

INSTANT CASH: At BioLife Plasma Center they compensate all of their donors electronically - on a BioLife Debit Card, which is loaded each time a donor donates plasma at one of our local BioLife Plasma Service centers. Donors can use their BioLife Debit Card like any other debit card to make purchases, as Mastercard debit cards are accepted and at over 900,000 ATM locations worldwide. So it is quick, easy, and convent for donors to get paid and use that same day after their plasma donation.

✨MAKE SURE TO CHECK YOUR EMAIL MONTHLY FOR COUPONS, DEALS, AND WAYS TO EARN EXTRA CASH! THIS IS A MUST + THIS IS HOW I MAKE MORE MONEY EVERY TIME I DONATE!

✨YOU CAN EVEN EARN EXTRA MONEY $50 - $100 BY JUST REFERRING YOUR FRIENDS TO DONATE!!!

SOME COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Is it safe to donate plasma?

Yes. Donating plasma is a low-risk procedure with minimal or no side effects. Before a donor is accepted into the BioLife Plasma Services donor program, he or she must pass a physical examination and a survey of their medical history. During each subsequent visit, a staff member checks the donor's vital signs and the donor answers questions about their medical history.

How often can I donate plasma?

The body replaces the plasma removed during the donation process quickly; therefore, healthy individuals can donate as often as twice in a seven-day period, with at least one day between donations.

How long does it take to donate plasma?

On a donor's first visit, the whole process, including a physical examination provided by BioLife, medical screening, and the plasma donation, usually takes about two hours. Repeat donors generally spend approximately an hour in the center, with the average plasmapheresis process taking around 45 minutes.

How is the collected plasma used?

Plasma is processed into a wide variety of life-saving therapies that benefit thousands of people every day. Plasma-based therapeutics are used in the treatment of serious disorders such as hemophilia and immune system deficiencies, and to treat victims of shock and burn.

How can I find all plasma collection centers in the US?

The Plasma Protein Therapeutics Association (PPTA) hosts a website listing all licensed plasma collection centers in the U.S. The site can be found at pptaglobal.org.
